Has stress and to-do lists consumed your thinking? Do you find yourself ruminating over the past and feel embarrassed, anxious, or depressed for “not being over it”? Trauma has a deep effect on our lives and awareness of that impact is what helps us to navigate it more skillfully. Trauma informed care means that creating physical, mental, and emotional safety is essential for progress. Through careful observation of how we think, feel, and act, we can sink deeper into our experiences and become more knowledgeable of ourselves. By engaging in this process, clients are able to develop a personal mastery of their own lives.
As a registered art therapist, I am trained to safely incorporate art making & creativity into in our work together, as the need or interest arises. Art making can help to relax the mind and ease processing of therapeutic material in a natural and intuitive way. This offers a unique opportunity to reflect on one’s thought processes in a new way.
It is important to me that therapy is a space where each person can explore their life with compassion and curiosity. The more we can understand ourselves, the more masterfully we can achieve our goals and build connections in our lives.
